Babies and Languages


An interesting lecture by Patricia Kuhl on the linguistic abilities of babies. There are implications for language learning in New Zealand where we start teaching second languages at the point where language acquisition skills start to decline.

  1. Fascinating! I found the information about social learning – as opposed to auditory or TV learning – particularly interesting. (I wonder too if that impacts on how the adult brain is best wired to learn language – that the listen-and-learn/ TV show approach, is sub-standard.)

    Thank you for sharing that.
